The situation

The webshop you launched a few years ago is catching up with you today.

Perhaps you recognise this: the shop loads slowly on mobile, your ERP integration creaks as soon as you add a new supplier, and your marketing agency complains that the site is “not really set up for conversion”. Meanwhile you simply have to keep going, processing orders, tracking stock, and secretly still working on that one product feature a customer has been asking about for months.

What you need at this stage is not a new platform religion. You need a partner who first investigates what works, what should stay, and only then advises: build on what you have, renew in phases, or move everything to another platform in one go. That is what we are good at.

We have run that process since 2013 for hundreds of entrepreneurs, from a sole trader with a first Shopify shop to a multinational on headless Magento. The approach differs per situation, the method is constant.

One partner for both the technology and the marketing, that is exactly why we have been doing what we do since 2013. No finger-pointing between agencies, just results you can measure.

01
Research first

A good webshop never starts with design.

The first two weeks we do no wireframe and no mood board. We talk to your team, dig through your analytics, compare your positions in Google, and look at what competitors do better. Only once we know why people come to your site, what they cannot find, and where they drop off do we start making design decisions.

  • Stakeholder interviews, sales, fulfilment, customer service, marketing. Who knows what?
  • Analytics audit, bounce paths, drop-offs, top-converting pages, mobile-vs-desktop.
  • Competitor benchmark, top-3 Google results for your most important keywords, measured on UX, speed and messaging.

The choice between Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce or headless is not religious, it is arithmetic. How many SKUs? How many orders per month? Which ERP do you run? Do you do B2B, B2C or both? How many countries, how many currencies, which VAT rules? We ask those questions, you give the answers, together we choose the platform that can last the next three to five years.

  • Total Cost of Ownership over 3 years, not just the build price.
  • Team fit, what can your internal team manage?
  • Migration risk, what do you lose if you want to switch again in a few years?
02
Platform choice

We advise objectively, not out of habit.

03
SEO is not a department

You build SEO in, not on top.

Most shop builds put SEO off until the end: “we will do some title tags”. That is why many shops never rank well. We involve our SEO specialists in week one, in sitemap design, URL structure, technical foundation, content strategy and category structure. No retrofit, just built right.

  • Keyword research drives the information architecture, not the other way around.
  • Core Web Vitals green at delivery. Not “optimise later”.
  • 301 migration plan on every re-platform, so you do not lose rankings.

A shop by itself does not sell, that is done by orders that flow through, stock that is correct, customer data that lands in your CRM, and invoices that are created automatically. We connect your shop to Business Central, Exact, SnelStart, AFAS and POS systems like Lightspeed and Cyclesoftware. Our middleware approach (see the ERP page) enables real-time sync without direct API integrations falling over at volume.

  • Live integrations running at clients, with monitoring and alerting.
  • One partner for both the shop and the integration, no finger-pointing.
  • Audit log per transaction so you know what happens.
04
ERP & integrations

A shop without integrations is a manual re-keying project.

05
Conversion & development

Launch is step one, not the end.

After launch the real work begins. We monitor your shop continuously, run A/B tests on the pages that matter (checkout, product, category), and review every month what the data says. Not a non-committal retainer, a concrete development budget per month, with reporting on what we did, what it delivered, and what we propose this month.

  • CRO cycle, hypothesis, test, measure, iterate. Four-week cycles.
  • Performance monitoring, server uptime, Core Web Vitals, error tracking.
  • Further development, new features based on what your business needs.

FAQ

Questions we get every quote week.

Concrete answers, no marketing talk.

What does it cost to have a webshop built?

It depends on platform and scope. WooCommerce builds start around €3,000, Shopify around €5,000, Magento around €7,500, and fully custom/B2B on request. Our quotes are always a fixed price per phase, no open ends.

How long until launch?

A simple WooCommerce or Shopify shop is live in 6–10 weeks. Magento 12–18 weeks. Custom/B2B 16–24 weeks. Including discovery, design, build, QA and launch.

Which platform do you recommend?

No fixed answer, it depends on your situation. We do a 3-year TCO analysis, look at your team, your ERP and your growth path. The advice comes in week 2, and is not driven by which platform we prefer to build.

Can you take over my existing shop?

Yes. We regularly take over from other agencies. We audit the codebase, plugin stack and hosting, and propose a plan: build on, renew in phases or fully re-platform.

What happens to my SEO during a migration?

Nothing, if you do it right. Before launch we create a 301 redirect map of all old URLs, preserve metadata, and monitor rankings for the first 4 weeks after launch. SEO loss during migration is a planning error.

Do you build the ERP integrations yourselves?

Yes, it is one of our strongest competencies. See the ERP page for the approach with Business Central, Exact, SnelStart and AFAS.

Do you work internationally / multilingual?

Yes. On Shopify we use Markets, on Magento native multi-store, on WooCommerce WPML/Polylang. We are experienced with VAT rules per EU country, local payment methods and language-specific SEO.

Who will be my point of contact?

Per project a fixed project lead (Payam for larger projects), plus the developer and marketer who actually do the work. No call center, no ticketing system.

Do you work white-label for other agencies?

Often. Many marketing and design agencies outsource the technology to us. Fully discreet, with or without client contact, own branding optional.

What about hosting after launch?

We host Magento on managed dedicated or cloud. Shopify is SaaS, so no separate hosting. WooCommerce on managed WordPress hosting. We arrange hosting at delivery or hand it over to your IT.

Do you offer aftercare after launch?

Yes. As standard you get 30 days of free aftercare. After that you choose a tailored maintenance package: monitoring and health checks, or an ongoing development budget. No obligation, but recommended.

Do you also do performance marketing on the new shop?

Yes, that is our other half. We are an official Google Partner and run SEA, SEO, Performance Max and Shopping for clients. One partner for technology and marketing, that is literally our positioning.

From Concept to Conversion: Your Webshop Journey

Running a business means balancing product development, marketing, and customer service. Your online store should support these efforts, not complicate them. At Exceptis, we understand that a webshop is more than just a storefront; it's a vital part of your operational infrastructure. We focus on creating solutions that are user-friendly for your customers and efficient for your team. Operating from Ede, serving SMBs across the Netherlands, we've been building robust webshops since 2013, helping businesses like yours thrive online. For example, we executed a complete WooCommerce version upgrade and theme redevelopment for Smeg Store Amsterdam, integrating it with StockFlow and managing their Google Ads. We are available by phone at +31 318 787 288 and online to discuss your project.

02

Custom WooCommerce Webshops

Many businesses choose WooCommerce for its flexibility and extensive features. As an open-source platform, it offers a solid foundation for e-commerce, allowing for significant customization to meet specific business needs. We specialize in developing tailor-made WooCommerce webshops that align with your brand and operational requirements. This includes custom integrations with ERP systems, CRM, and inventory management tools to automate workflows and reduce manual tasks. Our approach ensures your webshop not only looks professional but also functions seamlessly, providing a smooth experience for both you and your customers. The cost for a WooCommerce webshop typically ranges between €3,000 and €8,000, depending on complexity and specific functionalities.

03

Beyond the Build: Integrations and Optimization

A successful webshop is one that integrates well with your existing business tools. We have extensive experience connecting webshops with various third-party systems. This includes ERP integrations to synchronize product data, orders, and customer information, as well as CRM integrations to streamline customer relationship management. For De-mark.nl, we handled a hosting migration and integrated a Swan product feed, alongside an SEO trajectory. We also developed a custom Cyclesoftware integration for a client in the bicycle industry, demonstrating our ability to handle industry-specific requirements. These integrations ensure data consistency, reduce errors, and free up your team to focus on core business activities. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our customer feedback: we are rated 5.0 stars by 56 customers on Google.

04

Focus on Performance and Visibility

Having a great webshop is only half the battle; it also needs to be found by your target audience. We incorporate search engine optimization (SEO) best practices from the initial design phase to ensure your webshop ranks well in search results. This includes technical SEO, on-page optimization, and content strategies designed to attract organic traffic. For Fixpack, our redesign, hosting, and SEO efforts resulted in multiple top-10 positions. We also offer ongoing support and optimization services, including performance monitoring, security updates, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) to help you continuously improve your webshop's effectiveness and achieve your sales goals.
